Summer Vacation Scheme Review

The week started with a welcome from the COO and an overview of Gateley's story and their Group structure. Throughout the week, each day was structured around service overviews followed by networking opportunities. Task work was set by one of the unit overviews each morning, to be submitted by the end of the day.
Gateley offered a wide range of social activities for the end of each day - both online and in person.

Gateley were excellent at offering an insight into the firm and the potential roles available. We heard from Partners, Associates, Trainees and former Paralegals, as well as the firm's Responsible Business, D&I and Wellbeing teams. All demonstrated the firm's future focus, with a strong emphasis on the firm's desire to retain and nurture talent. Dialogue was encouraged, and questions were welcomed by all who spoke, exemplifying their team spirit.

I learnt a lot over the week's work experience - from gaining an in-depth understanding of the services provided by Gateley's Legal group, to appreciating how each of the companies within the group complement the Legal services provided.
The task work was challenging (but rewarding!), requiring independent research and an opportunity to engage with a variety of legal contracts. Each task developed a different skill, from comprehension to presentation.

Gateley had a fantastic atmosphere! Employees across the Group were friendly, supportive and all noted the firm's strength in providing development opportunities and a diverse range socials - including Tour de Gateley.
The firm's focus on wellbeing was clearly appreciated by their employees, and there appeared to be a well-established work life balance. Gateley were eager to hear how we felt they could add more to local communities, particularly with regards to D&I.

I really enjoyed the week's insight; the work was engaging and educational, the culture was fantastic, and the Gateley Team Spirit was tangible.
Gateley surpassed my expectations. Their employee networks were valued and growing, and employees all felt supported by the firm, with transparent opportunities for growth. I would recommend the week, and the firm, to anyone looking for a workplace which values its employees, and is a positive disrupter within the market.
