Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I was part of the digital team in the East Midlands working at BBC Nottingham. This meant I was writing and filming digital videos and stories for the BBC website. I was looking through social media sites and press releases to find stories for the website.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoyed my programme, journalism is something that I wanted to get into since I was a teenager. It has opened my eyes to the journalism world and helped me more than what I imagined, I just think that Covid halted a lot of it but I still enjoyed my time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have learnt many new skills and information about journalism, such as how to find good stories, the structure of news stories and many more skills that I did not have until I joined my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is quite well organised, but it is a struggle trying to manage work and the strenuous exams at the same time. It sometimes is also frustrating that you could just be settling in at your placement for you to then have to attend college for four weeks and forget what you learnt before.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I received a lot of support from my employer, they allowed me time to do college studies where needs be and also gave me help with my end-point assessment as well.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I received sufficient amount of support from tutors they helped me when needed and gave me good amounts of work sheets and revision notes to help revise for exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It has helped massively because I now understand rules and regulations and I am able to spot hazards in my work early which is very important in journalism.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Not that I know of.
