To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my work and the company I work for, but I am thoroughly disappointed with the University. They have totally failed me and the other students. It is obvious they do not care about our development and just want to get more numbers and students passing through their doors. For me, the university has totally ruined the whole apprenticeship experience.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt lots of new skills whilst doing my job, but the most useful one for my everyday life is the improved IT skills using programmes such as Excel and Word.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There are people in place who help me with the different aspects of my development. They have appointed certain personnel to look after the development and welfare of the apprentices. Whilst I have not benefited from it too much as it was started quite late on in my apprenticeship, it will be good for the coming years.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I think the support could be better - trying to balance the university and work load balance is very difficult and it would be good if we could have more support in managing this.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As previously stated, I think the balance is quite difficult especially as I am coming to the end of my apprenticeship. Trying to finish my university work, get on with the day to day tasks at work and complete all of the required information for RICS is a little much and more support would be helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Not at all. London South Bank have been totally useless and the degree has been a complete waste of time and money. I have learnt so much from VINCI and my time at work, and have learnt nothing of any value or significance to my role at university. It is an absolute shambles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There used to be lots of professional networking events, support groups, social activities before COVID-19 but that has obviously stopped at present. I also go to the local schools to give talks to the kids to encourage them to look at more than one route (not just university) and to show them that there are some fantastic opportunities in Construction.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vinci?
Show a willingness to learn and develop both with support and also on your own as an individual. Work hard and be supportive of others, and show a community spirit.
