Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
Support for the Risk Team in creating reports and ad-hoc admin requests. Also general admin of the tools we use for our business objectives.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
To put it bluntly, to say i enjoyed my AAT course would be stretching the truth. I'm grateful for all the support offered and the efforts of those in my team and my tutor, however academics have never been my strong point.
The actual job role however has been great. Learning how a business works by meeting and interacting with people from different areas has been a worthwhile experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
The main thing i have developed has been my knowledge of a bigger company and how certain actions and decisions impact those around me.
Working in a larger team (to begin with) was quite eye opening in terms of just how much everyone does on a day to day basis.
Also the learning i have achieved through AAT, in terms of accountancy knowledge and ethical knowledge.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Initially there was some confusion as to what course i would be doing but for the most part its been smooth sailing. My one grip is i wish we had been told our contracts would be extended a little earlier to alleviate some of the confusion around that.
But given there's a pandemic happening i can excuse it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer, more specifically my managers and team have been endlessly supportive toward me as i've advanced through my course. There have been times where i was on the verge of giving up on the whole AAT thing but through them i saw how stupid that would be.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Ample. Again, i had some times where i was rather close to throwing in the towel, particularly when it came to my exams, but through 1-1 sessions, and revision i managed to pass them all up to this point.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The general idea being AAT is accountancy. And thats not something i do in my role regularly, so i would say it was more of a detriment than anything. Ultimately it's more of a means to an end as i see it.
However, on the other hand it's made me contextualize a lot of what happens in the work place due to that learned knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Social events are (were) commonplace as every quarter or so there would be a staff night out or a team day.
Doing things like Total Warrior with my team, something i would never do alone, really helped solidify that i was a member of that function. However cheesy that may sound.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Sage (UK) Ltd to a friend?
Yes
Why?
This is a weird one to answer. I think yes and no is a bit binary. Because i have loved my time at Sage. It's the kind of place where you would start a career or potentially come back to after a while.
At the same time though, it's not perfect and it wont be for everyone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sage (UK) Ltd?
Keep an open mind and always ask questions as to why something has happened. Sticking with status quo can sometimes be a detriment to yourself and i think it would be beneficial to have colleagues raise more questions when it comes to certain business decisions.
