Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
The first year was spent at college and involved completing the first year of our degree, having three full days of lessons a week on this and two study days where we would also be in college. We also did PEO and had block weeks of this at different times in the year. Now I’ve just started my first placement which involves working alongside people in the business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Currently I am mostly enjoying my programme, however from speaking to some other people on my course who are on different placements the work they’re doing doesn’t sound as enjoyable

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My academic knowledge has increase I’ve also been introduced to new things suck as working with breadboards in our degree lesson and the PEO gave us basic electrical, mechanical and C&I skills. As well as that on my placement I have started using a software called navisworks which was new to me.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
We are only the second year to start our programme, so there has been a couple things that have changed from the original plan of the year but they do make changes where necessary
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
We have forums every six weeks with our early careers manager to discuss what we’ve been doing and any issues, he also keeps us updated on anything necessary or information we need from him. We can contact him with any issues we have and we also all have career managers now so we also have them to go to with any issues.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The college and the teachers are quite good at helping you when you need it, we’re able to email them to ask them questions and they’re good at giving us study materials.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
So far there’s been a minimal link between what we’ve covered in our lesson and what we do at placement which I think is the same across different placements. We did only start a month ago so there might be more of a link after we’ve been at our placement longer.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I’ve joined the women’s network and attend some of their discussions and meetings.
