Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role as a realtionship support manager involves helping clients with their day-to-day banking needs and queries. For example payment issues, audit requests, opening accounts, internet banking support etc
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I think it is enjoyable (as far as working can be) but I don't think this is the job I'd like to be in forever.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My confidence has grown a lot when dealing with customers via email, over the phone and in person when on client vists. I am still learning and it will be many more years before I am an experienced RSM but I'm learning everyday with the support of my team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think it is quite well structured. We have regualr webinars and also attend a 4 day course at the university every time we start a new unit (about every 6 months) however have felt that communication can be poor when dealing with the employees in Barclays regarding the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
We have one day a week for studying. My manager doesn't really ask about my study days or my course but has said that if I require support to ask.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
LIBF offer lots of support from the tutors and also librairians which is very useful, especially when we have coursework due. We also have a tutor that checks in on how we're doing at work and with the learning every couple of months.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think long term my qualification will help my career options but doesnt necessarily have a huige imapct on my day-to-day role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Due to lockdown and working from home, Barclays have started to have bingo and skype call activities. At work I beleve there is a rugby team but this doesnt appeal to me.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe this apprenticeship (a long with others they offer) is a fantastic way to start my career, as I will have 3 and a half years experience, as well as a degree and a certificate in business banking and conduct. Not many people at 22 will be able to say the same thing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
You definitely get out what you out in, so if you're not prepared to give 100% all the time, it's not the apprenticeship for you.
