Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
On a day-to-day basis we complete reports for different dealerships where we extract data, sort data and then display it graphically or in table format. Additionally we create decks for dealer reviews that occur monthly or quarterly. Additionally i take care of inboxes where we receive adhoc requests such as commission disclosure. And we get involved in key projects such as our recent dashboard which contains key metrics for account managers.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
During our internship we were giving a significant amount of responsibility. The reports and decks that we complete are presented by account managers to their dealer gives. This suggests that account managers rely on our data being correct thus giving us a high level of responsibility.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
One skill i have developed is my ability to manipulate and display data using excel. I am now able to create high level graphs and tables to display certain metrics for different dealer groups. Additionally working within sales allows you to be commercially and globally aware as your work closely with dealerships who display the effects of an ever changing industry. Finally due to the range of people you engage with your communication skills develop massively.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
During the beginning of my internship there was a two week handover with the previous interns. This meant we were able to consume as much knowledge as we could in those first two weeks. After this we were able to take our knowledge and apply it to our work. We were giving videos walking through the process of our reports and decks and we always had the current grad, apprentice and manager there to answer any questions.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Working at MFS was my first 9-5 office job and i really enjoy the working culture both in the office and working from home. There was never a sense of feeling overwhelmed as the atmosphere in the office felt quite relaxed, but not to the point where people weren't completing there work. There was a nice balance of a social/hard working culture which i really enjoyed.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I would say that i have extremely enjoyed my placement. One key factor for my satisfaction would be the team i am in. Our team dynamic was great and we all really got on with each other, we also went out for monthly team meals and had a few socials throughout the year. Away from this there was a close group of interns who throughout the internship you build relationships with and spend alot of time with. I have also gained some satisfaction out of the work ive been doing and i can see the clear benefits it'll give me going into my final year of university.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Mobilize Financial Services to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Mobilize Financial Services
Some advice that id give to others applying or a role at MFS is firstly to gain a greater understanding of the car financing industry. Finance types like PCP and HP are key metrics that we report on and having a context behind this data would benefit your understanding. Additionally excel skills are very important for ensuring you have a quick start, so a basic understanding of pivot tables and general formulas will ensure a quick start.
