Electronic and Complex Systems Undergraduate Review

My role involves relaying information between external suppliers and internal reviewers, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned to deliver fully validated products. Working on legacy engines if a change is implemented and also current projects. Updating all documents and databases to maintain consistency within the company.

The work load and responsibility was fairly low for the first few months of placement but definitely picked up and I started supporting the team with various tasks. In my final few months I was given much more responsibility, completing larger tasks on my own.

Learnt how to communicate professionally and effectively to a wide range of people of different background with various levels of engineering knowledge. Improved confidence in my ability to complete tasks to a high standard. Enhanced attention to detail when cross-referencing multiple documents.

So much support! There is a number of people that will support you such as early careers cohort leads, colleagues, managers and even other members of the large early careers community.

The culture at JLR is genuinely so friendly and welcoming. You feel very valued as an employee, which is rare at at company of this size. There are many employee networks to join meaning there is always events happening around site to add something different to your work day.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year. I've had so many wonderful opportunities from site tours and product experiences to careers fairs and STEM events. I was able to explore the company further by experiences different teams throughout my year to find out my wants for my career and future roles.
