HR Industrial Placement Review

No two days are the same at ALDI. During my time I got to experience all functions of HR on offer. While also being a placement student I experienced what it was like to truly be part of Team ALDI. My tasks were not the same everyday and I had the amazing opportunity of running my own projects independently and as part of a team. I had a lot of ownership of my workload.

I was fully responsible for managing two projects and additionally led a few new initiatives and a campaign development. I proactively contributed innovative ideas, which were implemented and contributed to the success of these initiatives. I committed myself fully to every opportunity I encountered, which resulted in increased responsibilities and further opportunities for growth.

I have new skills on different software platforms as well as developed skills in using Microsoft Excel. My main new skills are: Public speaking, presenting and interviewing. I have developed the following skills exponentially during the past year: Time management, stakeholder management, attention to detail, resilience, communication and teamworking/collaboration.

I had regular weekly check-ins with my manager, as well as guidance from a mentor to support me during my initial transition into this corporate environment. I was encouraged to communicate openly and seek support for various concerns. By honestly sharing my challenges, I was able to benefit from constructive feedback and guidance, which contributed to my professional growth, supported by the ongoing assistance of my mentor, management, and colleagues.

It was a fast-paced and highly efficient environment that emphasised the importance of continuous collaboration. Colleagues supported and encouraged one another to achieve shared goals. While being a placement student can sometimes feel isolating, I was consistently made to feel like a valued member of Team ALDI.

The placement I completed at Aldi has been one of the most impactful decisions I have made, both personally and professionally. The opportunity to develop my skills and feel genuinely valued has significantly boosted my confidence and created an experience I will always cherish. Leaving the office each day with a sense of accomplishment has been very rewarding, and I highly valued that aspect of the experience.
