Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
In my role within the Talent Team, I support a wide range of projects and day-to-day tasks across Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and Talent Development. My responsibilities include managing key processes such as performance management and 360 feedback, supporting with recruitment activities, and contributing to our employer branding initiatives. I also assist with ad hoc projects, often collaborating with different areas of the People Team, which has allowed me to gain broad exposure to HR and develop key skills in organisation, communication, and stakeholder management.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. I had the chance to lead several projects and regularly spoke with senior members across the business, which really boosted my confidence. I also sat in on meetings with senior leaders and was encouraged to share my thoughts. I never felt like “just a placement” – I was always treated like a full member of the team, and people trusted me to take ownership of important tasks, which made the experience so valuable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
During my placement, I’ve developed a range of skills, especially around communication, organisation, and stakeholder management. I’ve become more confident using Excel and Outlook, and I’ve learned how to manage key HR processes like performance reviews and 360 feedback. Working on different projects has made me more adaptable and improved my problem-solving. I’ve also picked up new skills in employer branding and gained a better understanding of how HR supports the wider business.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received so much support throughout my placement. Everyone on the team was really kind, helpful, and understanding, especially knowing it was my first time doing a lot of the tasks. I was assigned both a graduate buddy and a team buddy, who were always there if I had any questions or needed help with systems. There’s also a large placement cohort at Samsung, and it was great being part of that community – it made the experience even more enjoyable and supportive.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture at Samsung is great – professional but also really chilled and supportive. Everyone works super hard but is always willing to help and go the extra mile. The atmosphere isn’t overly corporate; people can dress for their day and are encouraged to be their authentic selves at work. There are also loads of employee resource groups that help foster a sense of community, like the Women’s Network, Black Professionals Network, and Accessibility Network, which all create space for people to feel heard, supported, and connected.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Samsung Electronics to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Samsung Electronics
I’d tell anyone applying to really bring their authentic self to both the video interviews and assessment centre. Don’t feel like you need to come across as this perfectly polished, corporate person – Samsung knows we’re students and that we’re still learning, so they’re not expecting perfection. What they really want to see is enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, strong communication, and the ability to work well with others. So ask questions, show your passion, and just be yourself – that’s what will make you stand out.
