Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Worked under two managers to support both CX Innovation (analysing feedback and working within the company to report findings + create new ways for feedback)
Social insights by using programs such as Sprinklr to analyse social media to create alerts about our products and measure sentiment online
Worked with Digital Support channels to improve and add new features across multiple online support sites across D2C and B2B.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I most certainly didn't expect to be in such personal control of my own projects with guidance unless I asked. Sometimes I did miss the checking in from managers as I did feel afraid to ask for help at points. Ultimately, I had a good level of responsibility that has certainly improved my ability to time manage, stakeholder manage, and work creatively and collaboratively across teams.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Developed office skills including Visio, PowerPoint, Excel etc.
Utilised SamsungU training platform to learn AI skills.
Utilised new platforms such as Sprinklr, Qualtrics, Visio, Premiere Pro and others and gained valuable knowledge on how it works.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I think I certainly would've got more had I asked for it, but most of the time I left it to myself to try and figure things out. This went one way or the other, either I felt positively about a situation I had handled or I wish I asked for more help and some of my actions may have affected the business.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It's certainly different, and sometimes almost too fast paced that I can't see it benefitting anyone. Lots of decisions are made with haste and could end up being bad for everyone. Overall, however, my office had some incredible people that I now call friends and will miss dearly.
The culture in general (at least the parts I saw) were very happy. Anyone, and I mean anyone, would be down to have a chat about what they do and you can learn a lot. It was definitely a positive atmosphere and I suggest you take full advantage of the networking opportunities!

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed it. So much so that I didn't want to leave and go back to uni! That being said, tech and business are two of my favourite things to study, learn and practice the ins and outs, and I think this placement was perfect for me. You may struggle if you don't have much knowledge in the former.

What advice would you give to others applying to Samsung Electronics
Don't be afraid to network with others, its really worth doing and most people are really free to talk.
It can be difficult to speak up but you have to force yourself to put yourself forward to make sure you are seen and heard.
Suggest all ideas, they may sound silly but no one will ever shut them down rudely, if they do at all. They want your opinions as young people who Samsung are trying to promote to, and its important to make sure you align with that.
