Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer at JLR, I oversee the delivery of the EDU (Electric Drive Unit) assembly line. My role involves planning, implementing, and optimising manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high-quality production. I collaborate with cross-functional teams, resolve technical issues, and drive continuous improvement. On a typical day, I support production activities, monitor process performance, and implement engineering solutions to enhance output and safety.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, definitely—I was trusted with significant responsibility throughout my placement. I took ownership of several high-value machines, each worth around half a million pounds, ensuring their integration and performance met production targets. I also led strategic projects with long-term impact on the EDU assembly line, shaping future workflows and efficiencies. This level of responsibility not only challenged me technically but also sharpened my decision-making and project leadership skills in a real-world, high-stakes environment.
