Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I work mainly with MATLAB and Simulink, creating apps and tools to help develop our application software. This ranges from software architecture, through unit design, unit testing, and integration and testing. We use the AUTOSAR framework for ECU architecture. This role covers most of the software development process. The tools I create are either m-script(.m) or MATLAB apps (.mlapp)
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes I was given the opportunity to develop various automation tools/processes on my own, and was responsible for those in development and maintenance. I had lots of autonomy on a day-to-day basis. This started within the first two weeks of my placement. I was allowed to learn through my work rather than do endless hours of online courses.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to JLR
An interest in the company is a really valuable thing to have. Particularly for the interview, having knowledge of the companies core values, current activities, and future plans will really benefit you. In terms of applications, try to present why you would be a benefit to the company, and even if you don't have relevant work experience (I didn't) try and frame your existing skills/experiences to show how they would help still in a role like this.
