Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a Marketing Executive student placement within the Healthcare Systems and Technology (HST) division at Baxter, my day-to-day role involves supporting the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote our innovative medical products and technologies. I assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns, conduct market research and analysis to inform marketing strategies, and support the management of the HST brand identity. I also analyse marketing data to inform business decisions and optimise marketing strategies, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure campaign success. My tasks include developing campaign briefs, creating marketing materials, tracking campaign performance, and identifying areas for improvement, all while maintaining a strong understanding of the HST product portfolio and customer needs.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
During my placement as a Marketing Executive student within the Healthcare Systems and Technology (HST) division at Baxter, I was given a significant amount of responsibility and was encouraged to take ownership of various marketing projects and campaigns. I was tasked with leading the development and execution of marketing materials, including social media content and email campaigns, and was also responsible for conducting market research and analysis to inform marketing strategies. Additionally, I was given the opportunity to work on a number of high-profile projects, including the launch of a new TBM service, and was responsible for coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful campaign execution. Overall, I was given a high level of autonomy and was trusted to make decisions and take actions that aligned with the company's marketing objectives.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Throughout my placement, I have had the opportunity to develop and refine a range of skills, including marketing strategy development, campaign planning and execution, market research and analysis, and data analysis. I have also honed my skills in creating engaging marketing materials, such as social media content and email campaigns, and have gained experience in working with cross-functional teams to drive business objectives. Additionally, I have developed my skills in data analysis and interpretation, using tools such as Excel and Google Analytics to inform marketing decisions. Furthermore, I have improved my communication and project management skills, working closely with stakeholders to deliver successful marketing campaigns and projects. Overall, my placement has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the marketing function and has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to make a valuable contribution to the HST team.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received an exceptional level of support and guidance during my placement as a Marketing Executive student within the Healthcare Systems and Technology (HST) division at Baxter. My manager was extremely supportive and provided me with regular feedback and guidance throughout my placement, helping me to develop my skills and confidence in my role. The team as a whole was also very welcoming and collaborative, with a strong focus on open communication and teamwork. I felt comfortable approaching my colleagues with questions or concerns, and was encouraged to share my ideas and opinions. The team's positive and inclusive work culture made it easy for me to settle in and feel valued, and I appreciated the opportunities I had to learn from and contribute to the team's work. Overall, I felt well-supported and empowered to take on new challenges and responsibilities during my placement.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture and atmosphere at Baxter were truly exceptional, even in a remote and field-based setting. As a Marketing Executive student, I had the opportunity to work from home and occasionally visit the office or go on field visits, and I was consistently impressed by the company's ability to maintain a strong sense of community and connection despite the physical distance. The team was always responsive and communicative, and I felt well-supported and connected to the team through regular virtual meetings and updates. When I did visit the office, I was struck by the warm and welcoming environment, and the sense of camaraderie and collaboration that pervaded the space. The field visits were also a great opportunity to see the company's products and services in action, and to meet with customers and stakeholders in person. Overall, I felt that the company's culture and atmosphere were just as strong in a remote and field-based setting, and I appreciated the flexibility and autonomy that came with working from home.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement as a Marketing Executive student within the Healthcare Systems and Technology (HST) division at Baxter. The experience was engaging, challenging, and rewarding, and I felt that I learned and grew significantly during my time with the company. I appreciated the opportunity to work on a range of projects and campaigns, and to develop my skills and knowledge in a real-world setting. The team was supportive and collaborative, and I felt valued and included as a member of the team. I also appreciated the flexibility and autonomy that came with working from home, and the opportunity to work on field visits and in the office. Overall, I would highly recommend the placement to others, and I am grateful for the experience and the skills and knowledge that I gained during my time with Baxter.
