Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I operate amongst a diverse team of some of JLR's most competitive and comprehensive problem solvers in the business. I worked on a range of projects including future Defender products. Day to day I make use of Catia V6, drawing 2D sections and 3D surfaces problem solving, as well as this I spend a lot of time away from the desk communicating with a range of people across the business.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
At the beginning of the placement I was given leadership of an aero part (air duct) on a future Defender, comparing that to the end of my placement I have been given ownership of a whole vehicle concept layout - this clearly highlights my progression and studio engineering competency over my 12 months at JLR

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to JLR
Make sure to prioritise showcasing your skills and understanding of different design techniques, processes as well as the wins and failures in project work. It's key that the interviewers here see that you're not scared to fail, not scared to give something a go and that you're willing to try and problem solve even if the outcome isn't right first time.
