Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a Service Management Industrial Placement Student, you will be part of a team accountable for delivering services to Contractual and Professional Services customers. You will support the virtual customer team, ensuring alignment of Services, Sales, and Delivery for optimal customer outcomes. You'll assist in cultivating stakeholder relationships and help drive growth by understanding customer objectives and converting them into opportunities for Computacenter.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
At the start of my placement, I wasn't given much responsibility as I was new to the field and needed to learn everything from the ground up. However, as the first month progressed, I was gradually entrusted with more work and increasing responsibility. This included tasks such as presenting to customers and creating monthly reports for both customers and internal teams.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Over the last 11 months, I have improved many skills and learned new ones. I developed a new perspective on IT service management through a course provided by Computacenter. My presentation skills have also improved, as I delivered numerous presentations internally and to customers, boosting my confidence. Additionally, I have enhanced my communication, relationship management, time management, and Excel skills.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Since starting my placement, I have received ample guidance and support from both my team and my Buddy/manager. They have been with me since day one at Computacenter and have always been happy to answer all my questions, no matter how trivial. Additionally, the Future Talents team, who oversee the placement students, regularly check in to see how we are doing and offer support whenever needed.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture at Computacenter has been incredibly supportive and collaborative. From the start of my placement, I received ample guidance and support from both my team and my Buddy/manager, who have been with me since day one and are always happy to answer my questions. The Future Talents team, responsible for overseeing placement students, regularly checks in to ensure we are doing well and offers support whenever needed. This nurturing environment has made my experience at Computacenter both enjoyable and enriching. The best way to put it is like its one big family.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Computacenter. The supportive and collaborative company culture made it a positive and enriching experience. I appreciated the ample guidance and support from my team, Buddy/manager, and the Future Talents team. The opportunity to learn new skills, take on increasing responsibilities, and engage in meaningful projects was incredibly rewarding. Overall, the experience has been both enjoyable and valuable for my professional growth and I have made some life long friends which is always a bonus.
