Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role involves supporting the Retail Business Controlling Team through ad-hoc tasks and analysis. My main responsibilities include campaign analysis, tactical and month-end support, and formatting and sense checking slide decks in preparation for presentations to senior management.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

During my placement I have been given lots of responsibility, which has allowed me to support the team. From the beginning I was trusted with tasks that were then sent on to stakeholders in the business, and the team has been very supportive throughout, always ready to answer any questions I have.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

This placement has definitely developed my MS Excel skills, as I use Excel daily to manipulate large datasets and for reporting, analysis and data visualisation. My time-management and prioritisation skills have also been developed as I often have to balance ad-hoc tasks with my normal responsibilities.

I have received lots of support throughout my placement - I am in a team of seven and everyone in the team is available to answer any questions I have. My manager is very supportive and has encouraged me to take on more responsibilities.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture at VWFS is one of the main reasons I enjoy my job. Everyone is very friendly and approachable, which made it easy to settle in.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have really enjoyed my placement! My manager and team are very friendly and supportive, always available to answer any questions I have. There is also a large undergraduate community, which makes the move from university to a work environment easier.
