Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I looked after the daily cash sheet, working out how much the company needs to borrow or deposit at the end of the day to be in credit and raising payments to banks. I also tracked interest rates and market rates to report to the wider team. Finally I completed BS reconciliations each month.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

My main task was a critical task which had to be completed each day otherwise the company wouldn't have enough cash in its account at the end of the day. This was a big responsibility making my job role feel important.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have developed strong excel skills, able to use advanced functions, create pivot tables and program macros. I have learned how to use SAP, an accounting software. I have strengthened my communication skills through presenting. Organisation skills have developed as daily tasks are time critical.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received excellent support from my manager and majority of my team. They explained tasks well and regularly gave me new tasks to do to further my development.
