Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
At Carnival Films in the production team I completed paperwork like call sheets.
At CNBC, I create subtitle and distribution scripts as post production paperwork before content is released. I create research on guests and topics for shows across sustainability and more.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
At Carnival Films, I was responsible for completing paperwork of high importance, including for legal cases, and editing final call sheets and cast lists.
At CNBC, I have experience of helping to design creative material for a show, proposing creative ideas in team meetings and curating research on a range of topics.
I was able to create research for the team and wider office across all three companies.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt to consistently maintain professional communication with stakeholders for key updates and be reliable, delivering work to a high standard on time, so that you can build trusting relationships. I have also interacted with external stakeholders, where I have learnt to represent the company and respond calmly, even when unsure or in challenging situations.
I have learnt organisational skills for projects and day-to-day tasks, to meet deadlines. And, I have learnt that you need to be prepared beforehand, with backup plans preventing any issues.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
At NBCUniversal, I received a lot of support from the Early Careers Team and my HR contact, as an intern. They have lots of check ins individually and with the intern cohort to make sure everyone is well and we can learn from each other.

How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?
Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
At Working Title Films, as a runner you have direct contact sometimes with senior members of staff and it can be challenging to get used to as it is a very high-stakes company where everything is delivered to a high standard. It is also a very busy and high-pressure environment. Lots of the teams are lovely and if you intern with the Development or Production team, the atmosphere should be more relaxed, and makes you more involved with logistics or creative ideas. It is a very specific and different company culture but it is very interesting and there is lots to learn.
At Carnival Films in the Production team, it is a very small and work-focused company. It is more corporate and there is good communication between departments. It is a calm and nice environment but there are periods where it can get busy or stressful when workload comes, like any job. It is an interesting and cool place to work.
At CNBC News, the environment is very corporate yet creative. In a big company, there is lots to learn and lots going with the live studio filming and different shifts in the news teams. It is a fun and welcoming place to be.
At NBCUniversal, it is extremely welcoming, fun and positive. I felt like I could approach anyone despite their seniority and I was able to connect with everyone I met as they all carry the same inclusive values.
