Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I work closely with both the FP&A and Controllership team to ensure that we are budgeting correctly and maintaining our targets. My main tasks include; being responsible for the reporting of Travel and Expenses across the Europe offices, reporting to external agencies on music royalties and taking a hands on role in tracking marketing spend. This includes raising PO's (Purchase Orders) and paying invoices.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of responsibility, which was beneficial to growing my confidence in the industry. Reporting directly to agencies and being in charge of reporting on the travel and expenses.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my presentation skills through the numerous opportunities provided by NBC Universal, for example; the Intern Innovation Project and C-Suite. I have also learned many new skills regarding technology and other programs which have boosted my confidence on platforms such as Microsoft Excel.

I felt fully supported during my placement, with check-ins from HR and weekly catchups with my manager.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was more casual than I was expecting which was refreshing. It meant I was able to be myself and with the many ERG's (Employee Resource Groups), meant there was support for anyone.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I very much enjoyed my placement and it has made me excited to go into the working world. Working in such a dynamic industry supported by an incredible team gave me so many skills that I look forward to progressing in the future.
