Sales (TV Distribution) Intern Review

The UK and Ireland sales team's responsibility is to license (sell) NBCU's broad catalogue of content to the UK and Ireland Free TV Market. My role is to support the Sales team in their existing sales negotiations and to seek new opportunities for titles we own distribution rights for. A day to day task might include creating a features deck, running a sales history or sales & avails, or updating product trackers.

As my internship continued, I had increased responsibility in a number of areas. For example, speaking to clients and being involved in organising client screenings was a responsibility I took on as my confidence and sales literacy grew. I also have been able to contact clients with the latest sell sheets for first run series. My team has supported my growth my constantly providing opportunities to take on further responsiblities throughout my 12 month internship.

I have felt really supported throughout my internship, both by my team, my line manager, my fellow interns and the early careers team. I have had weekly 1:1 catch-ups with my manager which has allowed me to ask any questions and update my team on my projects and progress.

NBCU has a very welcoming, friendly culture in the office. Both within Sales (my department) and beyond, I have built connections and felt at home in the office environment. Furthermore, I had introduction meetings with the wider team upon arrival at NBCU which enabled me to build relationships beyond my team. There also is a culture of networking and being sociable at NBCU, both in the day-to-day and at networking events.

I have loved my time at NBCU, both working within the company as an intern with access to screenings and special events, but also within my team. My team has supported my personal growth throughout my time here and I have felt like a valuable member of my team.
