Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
For Controllership, the key responsibilities across the Internships will be:
- Supporting the team with month and quarter end tasks as required as well as ad hoc projects
- Liaising with different departments locally and internationally both finance and non-finance
- Taking ownership of designated reporting, ensuring up to date and accurate information is available to the relevant team in a timely manner
- Ongoing projects throughout the year

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, as the placement went on, we were given more responsibility and ownership over tasks and this helped develop my confidence on branching out on my own. My team was welcoming to any questions I had and allowed me to create and improve projects that would increase efficiency in the long run.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We were given the ability to ask any questions and for any tasks that were challenging, we were given breakdowns to help develop our understanding.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
This placement was incredible, and will forever be a valuable period of growth and learning. I was able to develop my technical skills, such as Excel and new programs such as SAP, as well as my social skills in communication and networking.

What advice would you give to others applying to NBCUniversal
Be passionate about the role you are applying for. The technical skills can be developed along the way, but you have to have a base interest in the role you are applying for as it can branch and expand in many ways. The application process may be daunting, but the company culture is lovely to work in and you definitely have an advantage if you like what you do.
