Commercial Intern Review

As a Commercial Intern for Hayu DTC and EMEA Networks, my role involves supporting the commercial strategy across various markets and potential partnerships. On a day-to-day basis, I conduct market research, analyse competitors, and identify opportunities to collaborate with potential partners such as telecommunications companies and subscription video-on-demand services (SVODs). I also help develop strategic recommendations and create presentation decks outlining these insights and proposals. In addition to research and strategy work, I regularly attend cross-functional meetings with departments including product, legal, marketing, finance, and strategy. These meetings are essential for aligning teams and coordinating efforts on specific projects, such as launching initiatives with new partners or entering new markets. Lastly, I regularly speak to partners to update them on new marketing efforts & negotiate terms.

At the outset of my role, my primary responsibility was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business, including its structure, the industry it operates within, and how various departments collaborate. Over the course of the year, my responsibilities gradually increased. My manager maintained regular check-ins to ensure that the workload remained manageable and to assess whether I was comfortable taking on additional tasks.

My manager, line manger and members of my team were very helpful throughout the entire internship. All my questions were answered and my manager was regularly checking in on me.
