Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I have worked on technical drawings, design calculations, report writing and reviewing, and other technical documents, relating to bridge design, bridge repairs and bridge maintenance.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I believe that I have been given exposure to a wide range of interesting projects, all with different skill and knowledge requirements. I have been given responsibilities to complete tasks crucial for many project deliveries.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
My technical ability has been developed significantly, specifically for insights into expansion joints and overall bridge assessment, as well as my knowledge of excel. I would also say that professional exposure on placement has given me knowledge of how the industry functions.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Working at Mott MacDonald has been very enjoyable. The work environment is very friendly and stress-free. Everyone, I have worked and interacted with have been friendly, understanding and helpful.

What advice would you give to others applying to Mott MacDonald
As a placement student, I would recommend coming into the office rather than working remotely so you can take advantage of the pool of technical knowledge within your team. Additionally, ask questions and engage with your team and if you have any problems speak to them so that you can get them sorted out.
