HR Assistant Review

This HR placement was centred around recruitment which involved posting job ads on LinkedIn, screening candidates, and arranging calls and interviews with hiring managers. It also encompassed the entire onboarding process from start to finish, ensuring new hires were seamlessly integrated into the company and had all their equipment ready for their first day. The role also included managing the HR portal to keep records up-to-date and responding to daily HR inquiries from employees.

I had genuine responsibility from day 1 and was left to manage many projects myself which helped me to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, I managed the entirety of the intern and graduate recruitment process and their subsequent onboarding. I knew I could always ask for support if/when it was needed but having great responsibility made me enjoy this placement so much and I learnt so much!

This placement has helped me to develop skills both personally and professionally. Firstly, my communication and organisational skills have improved through speaking to colleagues in all levels of the hierarchy and having to juggle multiple projects at once. I have also been trusted with lots of responsibility which has helped my confidence levels and has made me feel more empowered. I have also developed my professional writing skills.

My team and I were very close and we would always support each other whenever it was needed. In my first few months, I received so much guidance and loved learning from industry experts. Throughout my placement, I never left on my own or scared to ask for help as my team and other colleagues were very approachable. I couldn't fault it at all.

The company culture at Renault was amazing! I felt like I could go up to anyone in the business and they would help me. Everyone just wanted to see the placement students succeed! We had monthly town halls where the whole company would get together so it was great to network and socialise with other departments. It has certainly set the bar very high for other workplaces I may be in in the future.

I LOVED my placement! All of my expectations were surpassed and I couldn't have asked for a better team. It has helped confirm that HR is what I would like to pursue a career in and has even made me consider the automotive industry! If you are thinking about applying to Renault... do it.
