Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
We work to ensure that investments made and assets that are held by M&G plc cooperate with the principles of ESG (Environmental, Social and governance). We look at trendy topics such as coal companies, climate change, modern slavery, tobacco, unconventional oil + gas as well as many others. We look to exclude companies that pose an ESG risk to our clients and M&G as a whole.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I've had multiple assignments to complete, some of which were time sensitive and required great focus and commitment. I've also been involved in writing up a paper of significant importance for the committee board as well as M&G as a whole.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Past weeks have involved undertaking research in terms of reading several scientific papers as well as producing presentations and summaries on key topics on modern day interest in both the investment world and the wider public. Excel skills have also seen an improvement due to the inevitable use of spreadsheets and data management.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I have definitely received an immense amount of both support and guidance. Everyone here seems to look out for you and ensure you're getting along just fine. Everyone was happy to answer any questions I had, especially my manager with whom I would sit down and ask questions and have interesting conversations about trendy topics and my potential involvement with the team's work.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone at M&G plc is extremely friendly and willing to help you out with anything you may need. They are always happy to answer any questions and steer you in the right direction, whilst also ensuring you are getting the most out of your internship.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have definitely enjoyed my time at this internship. The work I've been doing has been extremely interesting, to the point where it doesn't even feel like work. The events arranged by HR and the intern team have been wonderful and really insightful into how M&G plc operates as a whole. All the different teams and colleagues seem incredibly welcoming and with a willingness to guide you in the right direction and answer any questions you may have.

Have a read through all the work M&G is doing and has done in the past. Ensure you have a thorough understanding of their culture as well as their efforts in bringing about inclusivity and operating within a friendly and well-diverse atmosphere.
