Industria Placement Student Review

For the first half of the placement you are based in store and as such it initially involves learning how the store runs day to dad eventually becoming and assistant store manager within a store and managing there store to the highest standard. The second half of the placement is office based so you will embark on numerous project which the company will then use to improve these KPI areas, such as inventory and wastage.

Huge amount of responsibility. From running the store on a day to day basis whilst being the most senior manager in the building to dealing with personnel issues within the team and my stores. Not only this but you are given large amount of responsibility in terms of, here is three weeks, here is a project, come back to me with the results and its up to you to drive yourself and your team to achieve the best you can.

My skillset has developed hugely since joining Aldi. I have developed hugely in a professional manner but also a personal manner. Holding professional feedback conversations with my superiors as well as people who also reported me was once a very daunting and nerve racking task. However now i can have these conversations with ease. My organisation and time management has also improved hugely due to the amount of tasks and deadline you must achieve if you are to be successful.

An awful lot. My mentor and I had bi-weekly feedback sessions throughout my entire placement whether this was on the phone or in person.

Aldi's culture is one like no other. Task completion above everything. There is very little 'extra-curricular' if you may so as the company is so lean and efficient that it simply isn't like that. Many people enjoy this sort of culture however it is not for everyone.

I enjoyed my placement an awful lot and learnt more than I would have ever dreamed of. It was extremely hard work at some points and there were times where it wasn't enjoyable but all jobs have that.

Yes
