Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
1) Accounts Receivable - Closing daily orders, invoicing customers and chasing payments through credit control methods;
2) Accounts Payable - Managing the AP mailbox and processing vendor invoices in preparation for our payment runs;
3) Bank - I was responsible for the application of vendor and customer payments to ensure our bank statement was kept up to date and also reconciled accounts at the end of month; and
4) Project work and other ad-hoc admin tasks.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes - Right from the start, and throughout my time at the company, I was exposed to and responsible for numerous important projects that contributed towards business operations and decision-making.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Greater proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel etc. I have also developed my financial reporting skill including monitoring fixed assets registers, prepayments schedules, bank statements & credit control reports.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The wider team made a real effort to build relationships so that I felt comfortable coming to them with any questions I had. Weekly catch-ups with my line-manager helped to keep me on track and provided opportunities for me to ask questions and receive guidance.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Understanding the work-life balance and a true concern for employee well-being is one of the reason Egress' culture is so great. Had it not been for COVID, I am sure there would have been lots more opportunities to meet up in person and do socials and other fun activities.
