Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Gibson Dunn's London Open Day provides a detailed overview of the firm, gaining invaluable insights into Gibson Dunn's solicitor training programme, as well as the firm's core values and practice areas.
The day involves taking part in numerous panel discussions, where you have the opportunity to hear and speak to several partners, associates and trainees about what a career is like at the firm.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was great to learn what a career as a trainee solicitor is like at Gibson Dunn and hear about the various roles and responsibilities given to a trainee at the firm.
It was especially exciting to find out about the regular secondment opportunities available as well as other features, such as the firm's unique and extensive pro bono programme.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The open day was incredibly helpful in learning more about the firm and I left with a much greater understanding of how Gibson Dunn differentiates itself from its competitors.
I found both the introductions to the firm's two core practice areas and the interactive workshop particularly helpful in developing my commercial acumen. It was extremely rewarding to hear from partners about the major issues and focus points surrounding their specialties, which, along with getting the chance to work with peers to discuss and present an argument about a current commercial issue, expanded my own knowledge and understanding of various legal sectors.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was clear Gibson Dunn promotes a high performing culture where you are encouraged to be ambitious and take on challenges within close-knit teams, whilst maintaining a very open and collaborative environment.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed the open day and found it very rewarding, as it gave me the chance to speak with numerous legal professionals from the firm as well as develop my commercial awareness.
The opportunity to meet the firm's partners, associates and trainees may be difficult to come by otherwise and so if you are thinking about applying to the firm for a vac scheme or training contract, or are just wanting to know whether Gibson Dunn is right for you, the firm's open day is the perfect way to decide.
