Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Working in credit/investment risk oversight (2nd line risk function). The role involves a lot of data analytics and the presentation of this data (doing lots of reviews). As well as this, attending investment committees and producing papers around certain areas where we perceive risk in the processes used.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Have not been given extensive responsibility due to the generally sensitive and important nature of risk. However have been allowed to work independently on reviews and papers, they were just subject to scrutiny before publishing.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Have learnt a lot around the Asset Management industry and investments (particularly private markets). Have further developed interpersonal and presentation skills through the opportunities I have been given, and have improved at networking.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received extensive support from the team I was placed with, however the support from HR has not been exemplary. Particularly around queries about the grad scheme, onboarding etc...

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Quite a relaxed and kind atmosphere for an asset management firm. Culture is very important and across the board, colleagues are very approachable regardless of seniority.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have greatly enjoyed the internship. I have learnt incredible amounts and feel much more prepared for my future career. I have met great people and had many opportunities for development.
