Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role consisted of me assisting with weekly, monthly and yearly tasks inside the group reporting finance team, while also taking on projects to help support the finance teams inside Unite Students.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Inside my placement I was given a good amount of responsibility especially further on into my placement. My colleagues and manager would trust me more with assisting with important tasks which increased my confidence

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my PowerPoint, Time management, Organisation, CV and Interview, Listening skills and so many more. This was only capable with the incredible support of our Early Careers Advisor Emma Rowden who created countless of skills sessions to help us evolve and develop all of these important skills.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a fair amount of support and guidance. At the start I was supported and guided through new systems and tasks, however as time went on I was given more responsibility and a bit less support as I knew the systems well and was very confident with my tasks at hand!

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I would say one of the things I was most surprised about was how great the culture was at Unite! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly it is such a great atmosphere, I did not expect a FTSE 100 company to have such a great culture!

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my placement! I developed so many skills and learnt new skills which will be so useful in my final year of university. This year has made me so much more confident about future jobs as well!

Do not be afraid to ask questions and try to get involved with as much as you can!
At Unite Students they organise a lot of social activities with teams or with the whole business, which is nice to talk and connect with other teams and colleagues!
