Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Ensure that the delivery of national high-stakes qualifications in Mathematics, Economics and Business were done so to the highest quality to provide all involved stakeholders with a bespoke and professional service. Completing internal auditing, and data analysis and forecasting to ensure all work could withstand internal and external scrutiny.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I had a lot of responsibility, in direct communication with stakeholders and access to very sensitive data, entrusted with completing internal auditing for external scrutiny, contributed to the mark schemes, proofed and edited reports for publishing.

My team were extremely responsive and supportive throughout the entire experience. People outside of my team were also very helpful, insightful and did what they could to provide assistance.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Due to the high level of responsibility and nature of the work, many people were frequently working overtime - this sometimes put pressure on (especially at the beginning) to also meet similar expectations. Everyone is very hard-working, and sometimes a bit hard-working. Despite, everyone is very caring, kind and supportive of each other.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I believe I made the most out of it! I did so by working hard, attending all of the insight-sessions and built new networks across the entire company. As a result of my hard work and dedication, I was trusted to get more involved and truly make a meaningful impact for the company and the team I worked in.

What advice would you give to others applying to Pearson
Absolutely give it your all, the 10 weeks go very fast, so make sure you get stuck into the work and prove to your managers that your are worthy to be there and make an impact as soon as possible. This will open up more opportunities to learn and develop your skills. Also make the most out of the networking opportunities.
