Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Vac schemers complete two seats - I sat in Litigation and Employment and helped lawyers with real work in both seats. The scheme is very well organised with various talks and events that really help you get to know the firm. Vac schemers are even invited to the summer party. Everyone at the firm was very welcoming and willing to chat - having completed other schemes, Gibson Dunn definitely stands out.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The scheme helps you really understand what Gibson Dunn is about and about their business both in London and globally. It was enjoyable and interesting to learn about and the firm's strategy and lawyers really took the time to explain things to vac schemers.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Definitely.
Legal research skills are developed when undertaking real tasks or the mock assignments that vac schemers are given. Maintaining attention to detail and performing thorough research was also crucial.
I also developed my interpersonal skills through networking with plenty of people in the office.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture is very welcoming and everyone is encouraged to reach out and speak to different people. From all of my interactions, lawyers at the office really want to help vac schemers and give them useful and thoughtful feedback on any work that we did. The office culture genuinely seems very collaborative.
