Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We often worked on a number of tasks over the course of day helping with whatever project our supervisors, or other lawyers, needed assistance with.
Besides this work we attended a series of seminars which introduced us to various practices at the firm such as tax, litigation, arbitration and the like.
Finally, we also worked on a couple of hand-in exercises and completed a group presentation of various business related topics.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
That was a fantastic experience, both in terms of learning about the various aspects of commercial law and in terms of exploring potential career paths.
Many of the seminars were attended covered facets of the law that I had never thought would be of much interest to me but that I found engaging once explained to me by an expert in the field.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I learnt a lot about how the law is applied in a professional, commercial setting both from working with my supervisors and by attending the seminars.
The most important skills that the Scheme helped us hone were organisation and multitasking. There were multiple work streams running parallel to each other over the course of the days and weeks and we had to learn to manage our time efficiently.
Finally, the scheme taught us the importance of both asking questions and trying to work independently.
