VCSP Review

Day to day tasks ranged from drafting real legal documents, researching these documents, and researching the whole process using relevant precedent and other resources. Various teams calls were also structured well so we had a great insight into the firm and different departments, not just based in Birmingham.

It was interesting to see the business roles available and the importance of these roles in ensuring a successful commercial firm.
It was also eye opening to see the various junior roles available and routes to qualify that differ from a traditional training contract.

Although only here for a week, I developed my legal drafting skills along side developing my level of confidence. Speaking with various staff members from all different levels helped increase my confidence and allowed me to be myself and let my personality thrive in a professional setting.
I also developed my research skills through constant use of practical law and use of Gateley precedent documents .

Everyone was very welcoming and warm which created a nice general atmosphere where i was not afraid to ask questions or book in chats with different staff members. The firm clearly values individuality which was very nice to see as it creates a warm firm with a great atmosphere and champions different perspectives from different people. The firm is also fairly diverse in my eyes.

I enjoyed this week greatly to the point where I would actively encourage others to apply for schemes and roles. I particularly enjoyed the speaking with the trainees and hearing about their experiences along with actually working on real life cases. The firm was welcoming and supports its staff in their progression which again made the experience enjoyable for me; the people made it.
