Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

I was paired with a trainee buddy, and on a day to day basis I was able to get insight into the work my buddy was doing as well as complete my own tasks. These included drafting emails to supervisors, preparing briefing notes, drafting letters, and other tasks. Also attended events such as department talks, a Q&A with trainees, and a diversity and inclusion workshop, as well as various social events.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

I got a great insight into how the business is run, what makes it different from other law firms, and what the community and culture is like, as well as the different routes into the firm other than a traditional training contract, such as working as a paralegal.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I was able to develop my verbal and written communication skills, as well as learning new legal skills I did not previously have. It was also a great insight into the daily operations and culture of the firm.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture was very friendly and helpful. There was someone available at all times to answer my questions, as well as review my work and provide invaluable feedback. People at all different levels of the firm made an effort to be friendly.
