Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Store time involves the management of people and process. You will need to learn how to co-ordinate tasks efficiently whilst motivating staff. Project work involves managing your own time to complete the projects set out for you by the directors. This can range from anything from maximising sales within stores to re-designing a task management system. Area Manager shadowing involves working alongside an experienced AM to learn how to oversee multiple stores.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes. To be a working assistant manager for a store for 15 weeks is a huge responsibility that takes a lot of work. The project work also has the potential to save the business thousands of pounds so you get the chance to make a real impact.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I learnt a lot which I am extremely grateful for, however it is hard work and you have to be prepared for that. It is greatly rewarding which brings enjoyment in itself.
