Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The virtual insight provided you with a staff member to shadow for the 3 days where you were able to join client meetings, work on client work and network with people across the firm. You were able to express your interests in terms of competencies within your line of service which allowed you to network with staff members from these departments and gain a true insight into life at PwC. They also provided great talks about the different networks at PwC, their work and goals, and organised socials including yoga and a live cooking class.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I believe that these insights provided me with invaluable understanding which has made it much clearer for me in terms of the line of service and competency I may be interested in joining. The employees were all very kind and gave up a lot of their time to inform us and answer all of our questions giving us a true and raw understanding of the roles and day to day working life.
Furthermore, PwC provided us with talks regarding their different networks including shine, christian network and many others which added to the experience. We were able to gain knowledge of the roles available and employees experiences of the programmes and also PwC as an organisation in general.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Throughout the 3-days I was able to challenge my own communication skills (especially virtual meeting skills) as you would constantly be meeting new people and were encouraged to ask questions which enabled me to gain an excellent insight. Furthermore, I was able to shadow client work which developed my critical thinking and analysis skills as it required me to quickly understand the project before providing my opinion and contributing to the work.
The programme also developed my knowledge in the consulting sector and I believe provided me with an invaluable insight into PwC.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the virtual experience
4/5
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
All of the staff were extremely helpful and willing to answer every question posed to them. The company culture struck me as being very transparent and caring for the staff. I was also under the impression that PwC focus on continually developing their staff with qualifications and training. This included mental health training, and taking on chair roles on their networks.
The atmosphere was very welcoming and productive, with days which were full of back to back organised events and meetings.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
I personally felt that this experience was very insightful despite it being online, I managed to network with many different employees across lines of service and even internationally. The employees all tried very hard to listen to our interests and satisfy these by allowing us to sit in on meetings and talk to employees in these departments. There were an endless amount of opportunities which we were able to take part in allowing us to make the most of the virtual experience.

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC
Prepare for the interview and assessment day and ensure you understand your line and service and why it aligns with your career goals and personal needs. It is very competitive however on the day it is important to be yourself and demonstrate your communication skills within the team and be happy to provide your opinion and contribute to discussions. There are several stages, thus make sure that you are prepared, punctual but most importantly let your personality shine through as we are all human.
