Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I have changed teams every few months for a well rounded Planning experience. I am currently working in the Product Planning team for Soft Accessories. My day-to-day involves shadowing my manager for forecasting, managing trade weekly, analysing sales data and inventory position. I also work closely with the regions to review what they are buying.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given responsibility at every step of the way. I had regular catch ups with my managers to review and ask questions. I took ownership of tasks, one of them being updating trade reports and rebalancing inventory.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, I have learnt a lot of soft and technical skills. Soft skills being communication, relationship management, adaptability (it's a very fast paced industry), teamwork, and leadership. Technical skills including data analysis and interpretation, fashion-specific terminology and processes, and SAP.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
There are clear working relationships at Burberry so it is easy to reach out to people. I had regular 121s with my managers to talk about any problems/feedback. I was also assigned a buddy for informal chats and just learning more about the company. We had sessions as a placement cohort on teamwork, personality, and DE&I. There's also a strong Learning and Development team at Burberry.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is great to work at. Everyone dresses up like they want to. As a fashion brand, they recognise unique styles. Everyone is supportive and helpful, beyond just role-specific questions. I also have regular socials/drinks with my team to celebrate successes.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my placement. I got a lot of opportunities that I am grateful for. Being a global company, Burberry gives you a lot of exposure to different regions and international ways of working. I also upskilled technically and widened my network.
