Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a Product Manager for the Hayu streaming service, we work in a team to improve and maintain the platform on its various streaming devices. To do this, we look at user experience, user interface, and work with our developers on feature projects that improve these things. Day-to-day, we work in line with our developers and have daily meetings with them to discuss their work, priorities and next steps. As a Product Manager, we lead each project into the direction we want for them.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
My team is very small, so my role was quite significant. I was treated as another Product Manager, not just an intern. My team ensured to give me tasks where I would learn the most and had a significant impact.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Since we are leaders of our projects, my skills in leadership have certainly developed, including my decision-making skills. Additionally, my communication skills as we often communicate with our various stakeholders and other teams within the business.
In terms of technical skills I've learned, that would include user experience, user interface, app development and design, and managment.

My team were always there to support and answer any questions I had. The Early Careers team were also a great support in encouraging myself and the other interns throughout the placement.

Be curious, friendly and willing to learn. Don't be afraid to ask for what you want from the internship and once you are in, make the effort to network and go to events.
