Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The role involves learning all about store operations within the business, gaining excellent insight into the popular graduate Area Manager role. You first learn to manage and run a store whilst also shadowing your Area Manager mentor. In the second half of the year you get stuck into some exciting project work. Throughout the year you are given huge amounts of responsibility which is so rewarding and fulfilling.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
From day one with the business you are given extreme amounts of responsibility which can be challenging at first but ultimately provides constant opportunities to succeed and prove yourself.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
You are given huge amounts of autonomy from day one which encourages you to develop your time management, organisation, communication and inter-personal skills. You will also have exposure to data handling and analysis particularly during project work developing and learning an entirely new skill-set. This role will really challenge your ability to manage people in pressurised, challenging environments and is challenging but extremely rewarding and a great career kick-starting opportunity.

I really enjoyed my placement with Aldi, it is the perfect placement for students who are fun, confident, hungry for success and aren't afraid of hard work!

What advice would you give to others applying to Aldi
Aldi is extremely fast-paced and competitive which is not suited to everyone's personality so make sure you do your research and apply if you know you thrive in this environment. You are expected to work 50 hours a week which can be tough and extreme shock to the system coming from university life but the hours are worth it for the job satisfaction and fulfilment.
