Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I complete tasks including design calculations, drawings and software development. I have also developed learning modules for new employees getting up to scratch with the nuclear department. I have developed knowledge in computer based modelling to design codes, different coding applications and how to develop coding for applications I have produced for the use of the EEN department.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
A lot of responsibility in design calculations, official report development and communication tasks

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt new skills in report writing, coding, technical report writing, CDM design risk development. I have also learnt a lot about the nuclear industry and the different projects which the PPN department are involved in.

A lot from my supervisor and the colleagues who I work with on a daily basis. Everyone is very helpful whenever I have any queries that I'm not sure about.

What advice would you give to others applying to Mott MacDonald
I would encourage future applicants to do some research and gain a general understanding of all the different departments which Mott MacDonald are involved in to be sure which they would like to work in. I would also encourage people to go into placement with an open mind and with a passion to learn and ask as many questions as you need. Everyone in my department have been very approachable and are happy to answer any questions I have.
