Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I am a working a civil engineer for the infrastructure team. I am involved in a spread of projects and mainly work as a modeller.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I have been given responsibility on a smaller scale projects which has helped with my organisational skills as I have had to communicate with multiple disciplines

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
The main skill I have developed is my understanding of modelling in Civil 3D as well as other software's for example GIS. I have also understood more about bidding and have helped research for bids for the company.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I have had regular check ins with both my line managers on my goals and ensuring that I am feeling fulfilled with my placement. They have been extremely supportive in giving me opportunity to work in other disciplines as well so I get the full breath of knowledge.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I like the communal atmosphere of the company. I am in contact with people across the entire office and therefore have been able to stay updated on office wide opportunity. I also like how the company encourages the individual to ask questions and try an activity that is new to you.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement at the company. I have learnt a lot of technical skills as well as social and communication skills. It has helped me see in more depth the specific areas of the job that I would want to focus on which will be helpful for my IP GP in third and forth year.

What advice would you give to others applying to Mott MacDonald
Be honest about your interest and be vocal if you feel you need a change, the company is very receptive making sure you get the best of your experience. Do not be intimidated about have less/no previous experience as they expect that from you and want to give you the opportunity to learn.
