Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Enter the office and check for emails and teams notifications. Then get on with whatever project I am currently working on, that may be Mark-ups for updating progress on a drawing or model, completing calculations or a report. I will usually have a meeting everyday with the team.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I haven't had much responsibility work-wise; however, in the team I have had lots of responsibilities, as I have had to organise lots of events and this then lead to me joining the social committee and then taking a leadership role there.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt better proficiency at using Microsoft apps, learnt how to use ProjectWise, Open Buildings Designer and MicroStation. I have also leant a lot about the general work process for an engineer and then how e specifically operate at Mott MacDonald.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

There has been lots of support, if I have ever had a question people were also happy to answer it. I was also left to my own devices when I wanted, so the task would be set and I was expected to do it, but help was there if I needed it and was happy to seek it out.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The atmosphere at Motts is lovely, it is one of my favourite things about working here. Everyone is friendly and I have had a great relationship with everyone in my team.
