Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Coding/developing algorithms, liaising with other departments regarding projects, having catch-up meetings with managers regarding progress, capturing and recording knowledge from algorithms, getting involved in other early career opportunities such as: outreach events, flying start challenge, charity fundraising etc.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Had own research project and tasks I needed to do. Within some of the early careers 'extra curricula' opportunities I helped organise and run events.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, developed my ability to code using matlab, improved presentation and writing skills, better at communicating to people with both non technical and technical backgrounds.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Was sat next to people who could help me and was given contacts of people I can talk to/have meetings with regarding my work. Had training videos and documents given to me at the start of the placement. Was first given smaller tasks to help with my understanding of the algorithms I would be working on.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
There were a number of societies surrounding ethnicity, diversity and inclusion as well as a neural diversity society to support employees and raise awareness on specific issues. Very relaxed and friendly department.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I found the placement enjoyable as it gave context to my uni modules. I especially enjoyed the extra curricular opportunities available to people on the early careers programme. Work was a bit slow at the beginning of the placement due to the learning curve you need to get up but as work picked up I began to enjoy it more.

Call on experience from university coursework and any previous jobs and extra curricular activities when answering questions. Give evidence to back up your claims (don't just say I am good at time-management explain where/when you have had to use that skill)
