Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Although the experience was virtual, Gateley managed to organise a great schedule. Each day focused on a different department, in which we were set tasks to do alongside attending multiple interactive talks from solicitors in the particular sector. The tasks were in Corporate, Banking and Finance, Restructuring and Insolvency, and Construction. At the end of the day there were fun socials to attend (an escape room, a murder mystery and in-person trainee dinner).
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Gateley gave a great insight into the roles across different sectors within the legal profession. The conversations with Gateley's solicitors were very genuine. I felt very comfortable arranging a teams meeting with solicitors (and partners) if I had further career questions, and was encouraged to do so.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The tasks set enabled me to learn new skills. For example, drafting a sale and purchase agreement, putting together an advisory note about collateral warranties and third party rights and a letter before action and a license to occupy. However, still awaiting feedback!

The atmosphere was extremely friendly. Hard working individual's but also valued a great work-life balance.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I valued the amount of opportunities to gain an insight into different departments. This worked well for me as someone who wanting to learn as much as possible about each department before starting my legal career. The work was very challenging for someone who hasn't done legal work before, so I am interested to hear the feedback in regards to the work. The socials at the end of the day were great.
