Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We had a great insight into the firm - there were numerous departmental talks where we could learn about the work that they do and the tasks trainees would be given. Throughout the week we were given tasks similar to that of a trainee. There were also numerous socials so we could get to know the team at Gateley Legal more and receive a greater insight into their culture.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The team at Gateley legal were all very approachable and happy to answer any questions. They spoke about support and progression within the business. We specifically learnt about the role of a trainee solicitor and the skills courses provided through this role in order to progress and develop. Progression at the firm was shown to be of great importance and there are many opportunities for trainees.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I developed team working skills and interpersonal skills. I learnt drafting skills and learnt how to analyse accounts. I got experience in the corporate team, banking team, restructuring team and construction team which are areas of law that I did not have experience in and therefore learnt a lot about these areas.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was extremely friendly and approachable. The supportive culture of the firm was evident and the atmosphere was relaxed yet professional and motivational.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
The insight was a great experience and it was organised well considering it was the first virtual scheme the firm had done. We were given high-quality work and a lot of support through the scheme. The social element was great and gave the scheme a fun and friendly element. It exceeded expectations and I would recommend the insight to anyone interested in the firm.
