Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

in my role i carry out tasks handed down by more senior civil engineers. This tasks can involve online software such as revit and civil3D where i design road layouts and label to present in a word document. I also carry out reports on word such as earthwork reports or construction procedure reports. The amount of time i spend on the project depends on the project

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given responsibility as the work i did would eventually reach the client. I'm treated like a normal employee and i'm involved in meetingds regarding the projects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

yI've learnt a new programme called Civil 3D. Mott Macdonald provide great video lectures on how to do all the essential skills and i got to use those in some projects. I've also used other programmes such as BIM360 whhich i would never use at uni

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It's got a great culture and a really young team who all seem happy to be here and happy and interested in new arrivals. They took me out for lunch when i first joined and there are extra activities after work such as rock climbing which i went to

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I've enjoyed it so much so far. The time has flown by. I've got a great team doing some really interesting work that i would never experience at uni and i'm really grateful i got this opportunity
