Summer Internship (Research Analyst) Review

Over the 1-month internship in the Research Analytics team, I undertook a research project looking at ways of classifying retail market positions for restaurants. On a day-to-day basis, I was using data sets for various uses such as discovering what the most populous restaurants were in London. Following this, I used the Internet to look up various factors such as the prices of items at each of these restaurants.

I was given full control to decide on a research project that I was interested in provided I could justify how this project would help the company. Once I had decided, I was given full control and freedom to take each step that I deemed necessary to complete the study.

Excel was a particular skill I developed as well as presentation skills.

I was paired up with a current employee of the company within the team I was assigned to for the internship who was always there to help with any question I had. The entire team was also extremely helpful and friendly, particularly the graduates within the team who even helped put me in contact with other graduates in different teams within the company who were happy to talk about their area of the business.

Everyone from the new graduates to the partners in the company was approachable, friendly and helpful. A really pleasant environment.

I loved this internship. I learnt loads about both the industry and company culture and, despite being an intern, I felt as if I had been part of the team for years. All of this is thanks to the team and everyone at the company.
