Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Carrying out different assertion fieldwork testing as part of an audit of a client company. This is to confirm the company’s financial statement are true, accurate and a fair and that everything has been correctly stated. My role is to carry out the fieldwork testing that contributes to the audit. This involves checking invoices, bank statements, stocks etc, communicating with the client, and using programmes such as Microsoft excel
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. I was given responsibility to carry out the fieldwork testing myself, and also to contact the clients myself by email and in-person conversations.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Coming from a Biochemistry background I have learnt a lot about audit - what an audit it and what it involves. I have learnt how to carry out audit fieldwork testing and through this I have also improved my excel skills.

Everyone on my team was approachable to ask questions when I needed help. When I was given work to do it was always explaining very well to me.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was easy to get along with, and I found it was nice to get to know everyone when I was working on-site. The team were approachable and made an effort to build relationships such as via the social events.
